Last night I hosted another off show chat session. Started at 6pm (ET as usual). It only lasted just over 7 hours. I even managed to stay awake all the way through this time.
Mike, Jim G., Anders, The Prof, Bruce, Lionel, Murray, Jason and Jim L. came by and sure made it one of the better chat nights yet.
We all got on Google Earth and visited each others homes. I have to say, some of the houses are really nice.
Then the fun REALLY started when we started trading pictures. I'll just say, at times, it was indescribable.
Note to Tom: Anders talked about maybe trying to schedule a "morning" show every 2 or 3 months...if that is feasible.
Next week is a scheduled recorded show with Tom, so the next off show chat will be at least 2 weeks away.
I want to say thank you to everyone for stopping by and making it a fun time. I can't wait for the next one.

We had another off show chat last night. Figured I would try my hand at testing the new recording software. I'm not sure what I did wrong, but it only got the 1st 2 hours recorded. I'm gonna have to do some more research on this.
I want to thank Chris, Terry, Clark, Jim L., Jennifer, Mike, Fred, Jason, Jim G., Ben, Josh, Lionel, and Gordon for making it a fun-filled 8-1/2 hours.
I know there was some talk about recording these chats and releasing them publicly, but, although I am using a recorder, I don't want to lose the loose, off-the-cuff feeling the chats have. I want everyone to know that I don't intend to put any of the recorded material out for public consumption. Any and all matters discussed during the chats is completely off the record and the recordings are only to help me learn the processes of recording and editing.
With Tom not having another recorded show until the 3rd, I'm planning on having another Saturday Night chat next week.
I hope to talk to everyone then.

We had another impromptu chat last night. It started around 9:00pm ET. Lionel, Matt, Bruce, Jason and Jim L. all joined in. We just talked about things in general, no particular topic (we don't need no stinking topics, right Jim?).
I'm not sure at what point it happened, Jason and Jim were talking tie plates on Sketchup and my brain decided it was time to sleep, so...out I go. I woke up at 7:00 this morning and see they ended the call at 2:19am...another 5 hour chat.
Sorry for zoning out guys. I'll try to get more sleep for the next chat.

A very interesting recorded show yesterday morning/afternoon. I think the count at one time was up to 32 listeners. Unfortunately, I between the electrical issues and moving furniture around, I missed a good portion of it. I can't wait for the podcast so I can listen to what I missed.
I started an "post show" afterwards and had Anders, Ben, Chris, Tom C., Jim "ICY" Lincoln, Jim G., Jason, Matt and Mike on giving their opinions about the show and all the European guests talking about their layouts and modeling techniques.
I had to leave for a church function about 2 hours into the post show, so I don't know who all stayed on until the end.
I got home about 11:00pm ET, started Skype and got Jim L., Steve J., Chris Abbott and Jason on for a "Post-Post Show".
Started out talking about railroading, but we soon heard the sound of some termites with heavy equipment at Jason's. He was busy cutting into the ceiling of his train room so he can fix a leak from the bathroom upstairs. But the whole time he continued to talk about the iCar.
Jim was busy on SketchUp making a Phone box. It turned out pretty interesting, although he has a bit more to go on it. He had to leave because Titus told him it was time to go home.
Steve talked about the hobby in general.
Jim got me curious about SketchUp, so I downloaded the program and I think I'll try my hand at developing a mock up of the Delmar, Delaware train station. The most recent station was built by the PRR in 1957 and was the a very unique building and the only one of its kind build by the railroad. It stood in Delmar until the day before Penn Central came into being. The PRR offered the town of Delmar the station for $1.00. After the town turned down the offer, PRR hired the Delmar Fire Department to conduct a "control burn" on January 31, 1968. According the the fire department records, the burn started at 11:00am and the last truck was cleared to return the fire house at 7:43pm.
Finally, at 3:00am ET, we ended the call and left Jason in the basement wondering what his wife will say about the small hole in the ceiling.
Since Tom announced that the next recorded show will be on March 3, I'll probably be hosting my usual off show chat each of the next Saturdays, 18 and 25 February.

We had another good "off show" chat last night. After downloading an update and restarting Skype, I started it off at 6:00pm ET foolishly thinking it might go 4 or 5 hours. It ended 9 hours later, at 3:00am.
I want to thank Anders, Ben, Hoffy, Fred, Tom Conboy, Marty, Jim Lincoln, Jim Gifford, Murray Scholz, Mike, Jason, and Lionel for making it an enjoyable evening with a lot of technical talk, but a whole lot of laughs too.
Tom B. even stopped by and tried to get Anders to record the names of all those that are gonna be on next week's European show. It was priceless. I'll just say that Tom will have to try to do it again.
Thanks again guys for an enjoyable chat. Looking forward to the next one.

As if a 5 hour recorded show wasn't enough, afterwards there was the 3-1/2 hour "Jason Reis Post Show". We had Jason, Mike Slater, Jim Gifford, Rosslyn Flint, Terry Terrance, Lionel Strang, Prof Kryzlr and myself come in and spend some time. Guess when the talk is model railroad, we want to chat until the sun comes up...and it almost did. We finally called it at 3:30am ET.
Actually Tom, there were some talk about maybe doing a 24-hour show...but I think it was all in jest. But, you just never know with this crew.

The chat tonight was attended by the usual suspects. Anders, Jim Gifford, Hoffy, Terry, Jim Lincoln, Chris, The Professor, and Steve Jannick all stopped by. We were all surprised when Yoda came in with some of his wisdom.
We talked about everything under the rainbow....with some train talk thrown in.
It's just so fascinating to me as to how quickly time goes by when we're all sitting around chatting. I started at 6:00pm ET and before you know it, when we all said our good-nights it was 11:47pm.
I plan on doing it again next Saturday, if Tom isn't planning another show, and I'm not in Springfield. I will post an announcement on Thursday if I'm going to be home to get the chat started.
I want to thank everyone who stopped in tonight. It was really an enjoyable evening.
